Installation Note 43879: SAS® 9.3 Migration Utility content is written to the 9.2 configuration directory when you migrate SAS® BI Dashboard 4.2 to 4.31
In UNIX operating environments, the SAS® Deployment Wizard writes SAS Migration Utility content to the 9.2 configuration directory rather than the 9.3 configuration directory. This behavior happens when you migrate from SAS® BI Dashboard 4.2 to release 4.31. As a result, the SAS BI Dashboard cofiguration step fails in the wizard.
This problem occurs if you use a different user ID to perform the SAS® 9.3 installation than what you used to install SAS 9.2. Then failure happens because the user ID for the SAS 9.3 installation does not have appropriate permissions to access the 9.2 config directory.
If you use the same user ID to perform both installations, the SAS Deployment Wizard completes successfully. However, the SAS Migration Utility content is inadvertently written to the source environment (the 9.2 configuration directory) instead of the target environment (the 9.3 configuration directory) in the following location:
SAS-configuration-directory/Lev#/Data/001-SASBIDashboard4.2
This redirection of the content does not cause any problems for the SAS 9.3 installation or configuration.
The behavior described above occurs under two criteria:
- You migrate from SAS BI Dashboard 4.2, where content is stored in physical files rather than in WebDAV.
- The source and the target middle-tier machines that are used in the migration are the same.
To correct the SAS Deployment Wizard error, grant the user ID permission to access the SAS 9.2 SAS-configuration-directory/Lev#/Data/ directory.
